WHAT IS FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER SKIN RESURFACING?

A fractional laser delivers tiny pinpoints of laser light to a part of the skin. Hundreds or thousands of laser pinpoints may be used per square inch, leaving healthy skin between the ablated areas, to allow more rapid healing. A fractional laser provides similar results to CO2 laser resurfacing without risk of scarring or significant downtime. It takes years off of your appearance and significantly improves pigmentation irregularities and wrinkles in your skin. The treatment could be the best way to resurface wrinkly facial skin resulting from exposure to sun, as well as to resurface acne scarring and some skin lesions.

HOW DOES FRACTIONAL CO2 LASER RESURFACING WORK?

The fractional CO2 laser pixelates, or fractionates, the CO2 beam into thousands of micro-shafts of light. These tiny light shafts penetrate the deep layers of the skin, and then the skin repairs itself by pushing out the sun-damaged cells and replacing them with new ones. “Collateral” heat damage shrinks the existing collagen as well.

IS FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING RIGHT FOR YOU?

Although this treatment is effective and safe for nearly every type of skin, you should set up a consultation with Dr. Baylin or Dr. Servat to talk about your options and determine whether you are a favorable candidate for the procedure.
